Recently, the European Society of Hpertension (ESH) has published the 2023 updated edition of the Guidelines for the management of Hypertension, which contains many elements of novelty produced by clinical research studies published after the last 2018 edition.

Therefore, with the aim of presenting and discussing several new insights in the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, the ESH has decided to organize two webinars which will cover several important topics , including:

• Characteristics and management of subgroups of hypertensive patients identified by various combinations of office and out-of-office blood pressure values.
• Modern management of hypertension according to age and sex differences, taking into account the different hemodynamic and neurohumoral characteristics, the possible associated diseases, the degree of frailty.
• Pharmacological treatment for the large majority of essential hypertensive patients consisting in various combinations of RAS blockers, calcium channel blockers, thiazide/thiazide-like diuretics and beta blockers. Beta blockers indicated as first line treatment in many specific clinical situations in hypertension, such as some cardiovascular complications or numerous associated diseases .
• Appropriate diagnosis and treatment of hypertensive emergencies, according to the pathological involvement of different target organs, and management of true resistant hypertension, with the updated use of renal denervation.
• Recommendations for patients follow-up strategies, including assessment of clinical inertia or poor adherence to treatment, and potential advantages with application of tele-health and information technology.
